Once the foot scan is obtained, the practitioner fills out the prescription information including the patient's condition and sends the order electronically to the lab, which in turn produces the custom foot orthotic to the patient's foot and orthotic prescription specifications. All foot images including a copy of the doctor's prescription are stored at the lab and available upon request.

About Varifit
Accu-Pin Scanner
The Accu-Pin Scanner takes a true three dimensional impression of the patient's foot. The image of the plantar surface of the foot is acquired using a pin matrix which has 740 independent pins suspended with friction material.
The practitioner casts the foot in a "Neutral" position by pressing the foot into the pin matrix using traditional semi weight bearing casting technique. After casting, the pin mold can be turned over and the positive three dimensional image of the foot can be seen in the pin matrix.
Once the foot is cast, the pin matrix is placed into the scanner with the positive foot image facing down and scanned. The scanner acquires the foot image by measuring the height of each of the 740 pins. This is repeated for both feet.
